I remember all students in Yugoslavia taking tapestry and macrame making lessons among all other handicraft courses. Handmade unique macrame was very popular in the mid century and was present in all homes. Unfortunately, most of them have not survived.
Thankfully this vintage weaving that was made in the 1970's survived to this day. It has a typical mid century modern wall decor made of thick cotton rope in yellow, red and brown color.
