Rare and exceptionally well-preserved 1970s Space Age wall mirror in a striking vibrant orange — a true statement piece of vintage design.
This beautiful Mid-Century Modern / Space Age mirror features a thick and exceptionally sturdy molded plastic frame in a wonderful bright orange color. Its softly rounded rectangular shape, bold proportions and vivid color give it an unmistakable 1970s retro and Pop Art character.
The mirror was most likely manufactured in Yugoslavia in the 1970s, although there is no maker's label or mark present.
One of its particularly clever features is its versatility: the mirror can be hung either vertically or horizontally. The metal hanging fitting on the back can simply be repositioned into the pre-prepared mounting holes, allowing you to change the orientation according to your space.
This example is in exceptionally good vintage condition. The orange plastic frame is beautifully preserved with only minimal signs of age and use, especially considering that it is around 50 years old. The original mirror glass is also very well preserved, without the typical heavy deterioration sometimes found on vintage mirrors.
There is some slight optical distortion of the reflection towards the outer edges of the glass. This is characteristic of some older vintage mirror glass and does not affect its functionality; rather, it is part of the authentic character and age of the piece.
With its strong sculptural form and fantastic orange color, this mirror would make a striking focal point in a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, 1970s, Pop Art or eclectic interior — whether used in a bathroom, bedroom, hallway, dressing area or above a console.
