Rare Vintage Artichoke Opaline Glass Pendant Light, 1970s Yugoslavia, Brass MCM Ceiling Lamp, Space Age Hanging Light, Redesign

A charming and unusual one-of-a-kind redesigned pendant light, created around a beautiful vintage white opaline glass shade from former Yugoslavia.

The star of this lamp is undoubtedly its rare glossy white “artichoke” glass shade. Its sculptural, organic pattern wraps around the lower part of the globe, creating wonderful depth and reflections when the lamp is switched off and an especially warm, atmospheric effect when illuminated.

I found the original vintage glass on its own and decided to give it a new life as a complete pendant light. I paired it with carefully selected new brass-toned fittings, a matching ceiling canopy and a textile braided cord. The warm brass finish provides an elegant contrast to the glossy white opaline glass and gives the lamp a refined Mid-Century Modern character.

The result is a unique combination of authentic 1970s Yugoslav vintage glass and newly made components – a functional piece of lighting with genuine vintage history.

The opaline glass beautifully diffuses the light and produces a soft, warm glow. Its relatively compact size makes this pendant particularly suitable for a bedside setting, hallway, reading corner, kitchen, small dining area or as an accent light.

CONDITION:

The vintage glass is in good overall condition with normal signs of age. Please note that there is one small chip / area of damage on the upper part of the glass, shown clearly in the close-up photographs. It is not particularly noticeable when the lamp is hanging and does not detract from its overall appearance.

All components except the vintage glass shade are new, including the electrical components.
