A striking vintage Mid-Century wall relief, most likely dating from the 1960s or 1970s.

This beautiful decorative panel features three stylized fish surrounded by aquatic plants, created in embossed and worked copper sheet with a wonderfully dark aged patina. The raised areas have retained their warm copper tones, creating a dramatic contrast against the darker background and beautifully emphasizing the graphic details of the composition.

The technique is closely related to repoussé, in which thin metal is worked and shaped to create a dimensional relief.

The copper artwork is mounted on a warm reddish-brown wooden panel with a teak-like appearance, giving the piece a particularly attractive Mid-Century Modern character. The combination of natural wood, aged copper and the strongly stylized fish motif is wonderfully characteristic of European interior design of the 1960s and 1970s.

A small embossed maker's or artist's monogram can be seen in the lower right corner of the copper relief. Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify the maker with certainty.

The piece was sourced in Slovenia and may possibly be of former Yugoslav origin, as similar copper repoussé wall decorations were produced in Yugoslavia during this period. However, as there is no original label or other identifying mark on the reverse, we prefer not to make a definitive attribution.

The wall plaque remains in beautiful vintage condition, with attractive natural ageing and patina consistent with its age. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

A hanging fitting is already attached to the reverse, so the piece is ready to display.
